The newest European crown princess, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg, is turning 29 today. While Stéphanie’s wedding to Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume last October was a serious hat extravaganza, we have only seen her in one hat since her glittering wedding. For her birthday, I thought we’d take another peek at a hat she wore during her engagement; a grey pleated and layered Fabienne Delvigne design. It’s not my favourite hat of all time, but it’s not horrible either. I think it’s a pretty good effort for her first ever public hat appearance. Next time, some colour (and maybe a brim?), please!
This grey textured confection of a hat goes perfectly with the grey and white boucle jacket worn over a white satin and voile ruffled dress. Very beautiful with the mix of fabric textures and ruffling but not over the top with the subtle grey and white colors. I would definitely wear this ensemble with a longer dress hem.
shes the same age as Kate, right? this hat is way too old for her.
That’s a hat, 100%. It is made by Fabienne Delvigne, is one of the most famous hat makers in Europe.
I’m really questioning the definition of a “hat.” The subject of this post appears to be a large bow rather than a hat. In other posts, we see items that are on the verge of being large fascinators. I’m still wondering if a toque is really a hat, although it is close to the pillbox style.
It is a hat. A very ugly hat, but a hat nonetheless.
I really hope Grand Duchess Stephanie stops taking fashion advice from her mother-in-law. This is just the sort of terrible thing Grand Duchess Maria Theresa would wear.
