Lady Sarah Chatto (née Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones), daughter of Princess Margaret and niece of Queen Elizabeth, celebrates her 49th birthday today. Sarah is a successful painter who lives quietly in London with her husband Daniel and their two sons. We usually only see her at the big British Royal Family events but she came out of the shadows earlier this year to feature in the wonderful documentary, Royal Paintbox. (If you have not already seen this documentary about artists within the British Royal Family hosted by Prince Charles, I highly recommend it. You can watch it here).
Lady Sarah’s style is very classic and elegant, usually in monochrome colours and very clean lines. One of my favourite hats she has worn in recent years was for the Queen’s 80th birthday Service of Thanksgiving in April 2006. Paired with her silk suit and pearls, doesn’t she look effortlessly elegant?

THIS is how to do monochrome. Are you seeing this Princess Mathilde?!
Too funny! Mathilde makes monochrome look dowdy. Sarah looks great and that hat is fantastic
Indeed! I’d love to see Mathilde’s monochrome ways be forgotten.
I agree, very elegant yet simple
She looks just like a princess. This goes to show that you don’t have to be born with much beauty to look beautiful.
