Queen Elizabeth wore her turquoise fabric covered hat with side floral posy and bows by Angela Kelly to church in Scotland last Sunday.
We have two events in July to catch up with Princess Hisako- on July 27, she wore a white hat with vibrant green hatband and purple twisting flowers to take in a calligraphy exhibition. The next day, she reopened the Japanese national football training center in a leaf green hat with square crown and multi layered brim with upturned kettle edge and gentle sidesweep, a hat that is fantastic on her.
Queen Anne-Marie of Greece in a chic straw Panama hat in Porto Heli.
Princess Anne in a casual summer look complete with straw hat yesterday at the Festival of British Eventing held on the grounds of her home, Gatcomb Park. Today, relaxed hats were spotted on several members of the Phillips family.
A LOT of new millinery designs caught my eye this week:
Wonderfully spicy color scheme on this brimless design from Australian milliner Felicity North
Marvelous use of lace applique on this exquisite wide brimmed hat by Dutch milliner Wies Mauduit
Sophisticated and oh-so stylish black and white straw fedora from Italian brand Borsalino
Adore the swirling shape of this grey & cream straw percher from UK brand Camilla Rose Millinery
Interesting mix of texture, pleats and shadow on this black bandeau from Australian milliner Sylvy Earl
Creative use of magenta Vietnamese silk on this layered saucer by Irish milliner Jennifer Wrynne
Beautiful handmade flowers on this purple beret percher from Australian brand Murley and Co.
Such fantastic texture in this summer hat made of vintage straw by US milliner Jill Courtemanch
Love the gentle cuves on this black straw sidesweep by Munich based Nicki Marquardt
Irish milliner Laura Hanlon in a statement red and gold percher of her own design
Amazing movement on this blue button base cocktail hat with flying twists from Irish brand Marc Millinery
Elegant, classic white straw wide brimmed hats with wide ribbon hatbands from Lock & Co.
And from Montreal milliner Samantha-Tara Mainville who works under the Heirloom hats brand, this autumnal hued felt design with unusual but amazing draping and impeccable scallop edged brim.
Princess Madeleine shared this sweet family snap along with news that they are moving to Florida later this year.
Adorable picture of Prince Alexander and Prince Gabriel taken at Solliden Palace, shared by their parents
Princess Eugenie shared one of the photos that will appear in British Vogue, accompanying an interview with her and Princess Beatrice.
I’m sure everyone is long past this post, except for the nerdiest of hat enthusiasts, like HQ and me!
Update(?) 1. Is the queen wearing a different coat with the aqua hat? (metal buttons, and no pocket flaps) and 2. We see her dress, sans hat in this photo!

Am on holiday in the south-west of France, have next to no Wifi here. Just managed to download my mail (sitting on a bench in the sun, next to the tourist office-with-view-on-the-harbour). Thank you for featuring my “Champagne” hat, Hat Queen. It takes ages to download the pictures of all the extra hats, so that will have to wait untill my return home, am looking forward to hat!
On August 6th, Princess Hisako wore a wonderful hat at the National Private Junior College Athletic Conference’s opening ceremony at Komazawa Olympic Park Stadium Gymnasium.
That hat looks pretty interesting, Maja!
I love Guipure lace and Weis has done such a wonderful job with it … it’s classy and elegant and I think it’s just gorgeous !! 😊 I also really like the pumpkin colour hat with the scallops – Princess Anne would look so fabulous in that at Princess Eugenies wedding !😉
Hi Nonie, thank you! I agree, guipure lace is lovely and can look quite spectacular. I had the intention of posting some more pictures with details of the hat and the lacework, but Wifi is just to slow here (in my holiday spot), so it will have to wait another ten days.
Princess Akiko wore a cloche (or bucket hat?) at the 39th National Junior High School Shogi Championship Competition in Yamagata Prefecture.

Oops, forgot dates. She was in Yamagata August 2-4. Opening ceremony and competition began on the 3rd.
Princess Tsuguko attended the Interhigh Sports Festival’s archery competition on August 4th

Wonderful! Tsuguko became honorary president of Japan Archery Federation earlier this year. It’s great the photographer got the bow in the back. I wish there was photo from the front.
Princess Hisako also wore a different white hat on July 28
And here are some more photos of her white hat worn on July 27

Yes Maja, the second hat does look different, yet the trim looks the same the same. How unusual to have 2 nearly identical hats to wear with the same outfit. I prefer the first hat. (I notice from the pic in your comment that the dress has a matching jacket, which she wore with the different white hat you linked; and that she wore the white jacket with 2 different hats — the first white hat, and also the all-green hat. I guess she is working the “travel capsule” concept!
The Duchess of Gloucester attended the AEGON Summer County Cup on July 25:
https://www.visiteastbourne.com/news/ROYAL-VISIT-AT-SUMMER-COUNTY-CUP.aspx
Princess Alexandra was in Cornwall on July 31 wearing one of her often repeated hats
Always wonderful to see Hisako, and both of these hats are fabulous! The first one is a great choice for the heat of summer in terms of colors, and the second one in apple green is divine! (granted, it’s one of my all-time favorite colors)
I also meant to pass this along, but forgot; Camilla has been said to give “millinery a good name” according to this article: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-45038649.
Oops, and what about this lovely birthday message from Zenouska Mowatt to her mother Marina, featuring them both in hats?

HM wore this beautiful ensemble shown from last Sunday just under 2 months ago, for the June 10th Trooping of the Colours. HQ, when you post next week’s extras, you’ll notice that HM wore what I assume is a new hat to church today. Including today’s church outing, I now have 8 hats documented by date that HM has worn only to the Crathie Kirk in Balmoral, given they have never been worn otherwise, as far as I know. I’d be more than happy to share these, if an interest is there among our fun group of hat lovers. Then we can all decide if in fact these have only been worn in Scotland.
Now a serious question, dear HQ, and it’s really more than a rhetorical one; is it possible that HM has a whole wardrobe up in Balmoral that STAYS there?
YES to the offer to do a post on these mystery Balmoral hats!
I’ve often wondered if some outfits simply stay at Balmoral as well.
It’s my belief there is a wardrobe at Buckingham Palace, Windsor, Sandringham, AND Balmoral !!😊
It’s always good to see Princess Hisako, who wears the most lively hats in the Japanese royal family.
Love the sculptural quality of the Camilla Rose creation.
Samantha-Tara Mainville’s pumpkin hat is stunning — I wonder how this differed from her original concept.
And I wondered whether anyone else had seen this: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/03/style/big-hats.html ? Which of our royal hat-wearers would go to these extremes?
Oh, it would be Queen Máxima, without a doubt!
Fanny_T , I agree, since Max has already done it before to a degree – 12 years ago: https://royalhats.wordpress.com/2015/08/27/orange-nassau-wedding-ten-years-on-the-guests/ and also 9 years ago: https://www.modekoninginmaxima.nl/mode-maxima-accessoires/maximas-rode-hoed-van-delvigne
I agree Mitten Mary about Princess Hisako, she’s always a treat to watch.
That article about the oversized hats was pretty interesting!
I would love to see the Duchess of Cambridge in the lilac hat by Murley and Co or/and the light blue hat by Marc Millinery!
Me, too!
Lovely to see Princess Anne so casually dressed. It must still be very hot across the pond.
