A few loose ends to tie up from this week: Several of you commented about the suit Queen Elizabeth wore on Tuesday. While the hat does appear to be new, the suit was worn back in June 2005 with a hat designed by Frederick Fox. Thanks to reader Lex for spotting this! And no- I’m not going to feature this pair in a “This or That” showdown. Somehow, I don’t think it’s a fair match!

While 99% of the comments on this blog are just wonderful (and absolutely make my day!), I was forced to post a Commenting Policy this week. You might notice that two readers who commented here frequently are suddenly not here any more…. and that makes me quite disappointed. The commenting policy truly does not apply to most of you, dear readers, but it is now there for reference.
And finally, Maria EF Milliner /Tocados interviewed me earlier this week for her blog. Some of you have asked me about the origin of my love for hats, my favourite royal hat wearer and my favourite style of hat. For those of you who are still curious about such things, some of these questions were answered in the interview.
Have a wonderful weekend, fellow hat lovers!

Love the Queen in pink.
I enjoy visiting here each day, sometimes more than once (to see if I missed anything). I enjoy seeing a lady in a nice hat and wish more people would wear them. I have even been inspired to go hat shopping for myself and I am looking for a nice classic fedora. It is a shame you even needed to institute a commenting policy. I always try to be nice even when I don’t like a particular hat or outfit and I never make a personal comment about anyone. I enjoyed your interview and I also enjoy seeing which hat Princess Beatrix has chosen to wear – she has certainly worn some outlandish ones over the years (and I enjoyed them all). As for these pictures of the Queen, I like both hats, but I think I prefer the first one because you can see her lovely face more clearly. Thanks for the good work HatQueen!
Very enjoyable to read the interview, Hat Queen, and thanks again for all your hard work.
The twisted brim on the first hat is interesting. I do not think it is interesting in such a good way.
HatQueen, do not worry about the bad apples. The others are still good!
Great interview. I never thought of hats as helping create Camilla’s royal image and I think you’re right about that. I also love that you referred to Queen Elizabeth and Queen Beatrix as the “grand dames” of hats. Too true!
I love everything QEII wears 🙂
Nice interview, Rebecca, and I loved reading about your interest in hats and how it got started. I wish hats were worn more often as a fashion accessory, also. I LOVE your blog and check it more than once a day!
oh, and don’t you wish we could see the back of these hats? 😉
Thanks for instituting a commenting policy. I come here to enjoy the hats and the comments too – it’s a little escape from real life. There is enough negativity in the world – your blog is a welcome respite from it.
I am not one who asked you about yourself, but I was delighted to read the interview. I , too, had begun my love of all things royal when my Grandmother read, ” The little Princesses”, about Elizabeth and Margaret, by their governess, after I had my tonsils out and she was entertaining a miserable little girl! I was hooked. I had not noticed hats as much, but I am enjoying this blog tremendously. Great job and lots of fun and I’m learning. thank you very much.
I prefer the new hat. And the hot pink looks really good paired with black gloves. I am torn as to whether I prefer the queen in pastels or brights but I am leaning to brights.
I kept thinking all week how good the Queen looks in hot pink! It looks so good on her with her white hair. I like the new hat better than the older one.
Thank you for your lovely blog. I don’t comment often because of work commitments but I always look and enjoy. And I have to say the queen looks good in vivid pink.
Good job, Lex!
Now how do you suppose the Queen’s clothes are stored? By color? By date made? By type of event to which first worn? Hats are stored with dresses/coats, I assume; otherwise the pink hat room (or floor or building) would be so enormous that the original hat never could be located again. Selecting this new had obviously was not a mistake.
I like both the hats on her. The turned up brim one is dated now and while she wore that hat shape often, I always wondered who wore it first, she or the Queen Mum.
