Princess Beatrice of York (along with her longtime boyfriend Dave Clark) attended the wedding of friends Jake Warren and Zoe Stewart in Chelsea on Saturday. Beatrice repeated her mustard beret with large dyed feather. I was not a fan of this hat the first time I saw it but I have warmed to it this year and really like its pairing with this teal coat.

The Earl and Countess of Carnarvon also attended this wedding – the Countess wore a large pomegranate hued fascinator with large flower and net. I’m not sure it was the best compliment to her outfit but appreciated the boldness of the whole look. (If you are not familiar with the Countess, her husband’s family seat is Highclere Castle, the home used for the filming of Downton Abbey).

The Carnavon’s were not the only other people of interest at this wedding- Prince Harry (who reached the south pole late last week) ‘s girlfriend Cressida Bonas also attended, wearing a rather unique headpiece.

The Countess of Carnarvon’s whole outfit looks a little creepy, perhaps best suited for Halloween, and/but the hat actually goes surprisingly well and fits in. The Countess did write an interesting book on her great grandmother-in-law, Lady Amina, 5th Countess of Carnarvon.
Not a fan of the mustard beret. The green Pocahontas feather looks considerably greener than the coat; matching the feather to the coat would be given a more polished look to the outfit and allowed one, perhaps, to appreciate the mustard.
It’s a little Downton Abbey meets Steampunk Christmas. Cool and retro in a very aristocratic British way. And Princess Bea- FABULOUS!
I do like this hat AND the color – mustard is a shade I have wore and been complimented on since the 70’s…it’s a shade many feel they cannot wear but if you ever had your colors done in the 80’s when that was big thing to do – you would have found anyone who was a true autumn can wear mustard. I love mustard mixed with navy, burgandy or like shown here, teal.
This is not my favorite of Princess Beatrice’s hats, but it looks good on her. I think it is the feather that ruins it for me. I call hats with one large feather “Pocahontas hats” and I am not too fond of them. The Countess of Carnarvon’s fascinator reminds me of a giant Christmas poinsettia. However, these hats look like the hats of the year when compared to the “rather unique headpiece” worn by Cressida Bonas. Cressida’s hat reminds me of the “flower blankets” that are sometimes draped over racehorses when they win a race. I do not find this hat even remotely attractive. The winner this time…Princess Beatrice.
perhaps if it were a different color, but i can’t picture that color looking good on anyone. sorry.
