Princess Beatrix Attends Freedom Conference

Princess Beatrix attended the 9th meeting the ninth meeting of Liberty Connected at the University of Utrecht today, January 28. For this meeting, attended by representatives of various religions and philosophies who presented their dreams Netherlands, Princess Beatrix wore one of her signature brimless hats. This one, in black straw, was wrapped in wide textured black band set slightly off center. The whole look was too harsh for me; I thought the colour and shape was not terribly flattering for Beatrix and left her looking rather pasty. A hat that does that is not a successful one in my books. What do you think?

  1. I love Princess Beatrix. I am not an overall fan of this hat, but I think the main problem here is the very light colored makeup. The makeup combined with the black outfit creates a very harsh effect. ❤

    • Is the light makeup the problem or just the lighting of these photos? They look overexposed. If you look at the last time Queen Beatrix wore this hat, it looks quite good on her.

  2. The hat does seem to emphasize her wrinkles somehow … agree she needs brighter lipstick to offset the black too. Any hat that does those things is not successful, even though purely in itself I kind of like it. Just not for Beatrix I guess –

  3. Agree – this is not a successful hat, or over all look for her – some of these hats are OK on her but this one in the color black seems to swallow her head – it’s size/scale is just overwhelming
