Princess Hisako and Princess Noriko of Takamado visited Ise Jingu Grand Shrine in Ise City yesterday. This visit carried on the tradition of reporting Princess Noriko’s engagement to Amaterasu Omikami, the ancestor goddess of the Imperial Family. Princess Hisako wore an embellish cream bumper hat while Princess Noriko wore a cream hat with short brim, straight, domed crown and large bow on the side. Princess Hisako’s ensemble has a decidedly romantic, Victorian air to it, doesn’t it?

very nice
Oh, yes, the hats. I think both women look very nice, must be hard to conform to protocol and yet still look stylish. Hisako’s outfit looks like it might owe a nod to the dowager duchess (Maggie Smith), while Noriko’s is age appropriate. I particularly like the high waist on her. Would love to see their brooches in close up.
I’d seen that Noriko had become engaged, and I’d seen that her fiancé was the son of a priest … what I hadn’t appreciated was that her fiancé is descended from a god! That must be quite a responsibility!
