As you have certainly already heard, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed a new baby daughter this morning in London. At less than 12 hours old, the new Princess of Cambridge made her public début an hour ago sporting a beautiful cream knit hat.

The little princess, whose name has not yet been released, thus becomes the youngest royal hat wearer here on Royal Hats! We will undoubtedly all have great fun following her hats in years to come.
I’m sure you join me in wishing our heartfelt congratulations to the Duke and Duchess, and to big brother Prince George.

The knitted bonnet that Princess Charlotte wore when leaving hospital with Kate and William was actually on backwards.

I can’t remember if George left the hospital in a bonnet? She is adorable. It’s sad to say but many of us of a “certain age” won’t get to see many of the hats she will wear. That makes me very sad.
No George didn’t wear a bonnet when he left hospital as a newborn.

Seriously adorable. That bonnet looks so so soft. I’d be sleeping peacefully too if I felt as cosy as she looks!! I love the cream colour. Prince George was adorable too. We see a fair bit of him in the glossies over here in Australia, but he looked so grown up, with William constantly reassuring and praising him during this pretty big public outing. The Duke and Duchess are doing a lot of things well in my books. Keep it up. But what’s her name…..
I don’t mean to be picky but the cream hat doesn’t look good with a white blanket. A yellow hat would have been cute and matched Kate’s dress.
The Guardian on May 3 has translated the baby’s birth weight into metric (Britain’s supposed to be metric) – 52kg! Which makes me even more impressed that Kate looks so well. That’s a world record folks! I don’t know whether to laugh (even the Guardian is in a tizz about the birth) or cry (no sub-editors).
Congratulations to both families. What an adorable baby. Her bonnet and shawl are very classy.
PS I love Kate’s dress, it’s so spring-like, but I would have loved her more if she hadn’t worn high heels. Surely she owns a flatt-ish pair of shoes that are also “stylish” and that would be kinder to her poor body after the trauma it’s just been though (and any childbirth is trauma no matter how easy the delivery – it’s literally a shock to the system). Still, she may have only walked a few steps in them, just enough for the press to see, and changed into slippers in the car. 🙂
Wonderful news!
The Daily Mail gave me a laugh though, printing a chart of the royal line of succession, including the new princess, but also placing “Mr Michael Tindall” in it, instead of Zara, who wasn’t mentioned!
You can see the graphic here. When I read it, I really couldn’t believe my eyes.
Really odd They missed two Gloucester’s grandkids, prince Michael and his granddaughter
May God bless the newest little princess, and congratulations to the royal family.
Beautiful little princess! Love the knitted baby bonnet. Any idea where it was made or who made it?
The white shawl was from G.H. Hurt & Son but I haven’t yet confirmed the source of the bonnet.
The Duchess certainly got herself in presentable shape and in high heels rather quickly! Congratulations all around!
She is so cute and her hat is just darling. I know she didn’t wear a hat but Kate looks beautiful in that yellow dress. I never looked this good even a week after I had my babies.
So adorable. And SO EXCITED it’s a girl!
Beautiful! Can’t wait to find out her name.
