The Danish royal couple continued their busy programme of events today in Indonesia with visits to the Prambanan Temple in Yogyakarta and Palace Kraton where the the Sultan of Yogyakarta hosted a lunch. For these more informal events, Queen Margrethe topped her cotton striped dress with a simple natural straw hat. The warm colour and scale of the piece was perfect for the queen while the shape, with a curved brim and flat crown, gave it air of stylish casual ease.

The color and shape again suit Margrethe well, but I dislike the crazy striped hatband; I think it cheapens the look of the hat. I also love that she is posing for a photo; shows she’s just like us! Finally, I like that Henrik is wearing some of the local clothing as a nod to the host nation.
This simple brimmed natural straw hat is perfect for the Indonesian heat.
