The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall attended a service at Westminster Abbey yesterday to remember the the pilots and aircrew of the Royal Air Force who lost their lives in The Battle of Britain 77 years ago. The Duchess of Cornwall attended the event in a sharp, new hat

In white straw, the large scale design features an angular, off-centre peaked crown and upturned brim; it is trimmed in a shiny navy patent hatband topped with slimmer navy silk covered cord that wraps into a circular side decoration. The design’s sharp angles, strong contrast and sleek trim makes for a slightly bolder hat for Camilla than we’re used to seeing her wear. I’m not sure the crown shape flatters her entirely but it’s nice to see her experiment even a little outside her usual millinery shapes and lavish trims.

Several of you have been calling for the Duchess to expand her millinery closet and I’m curious to hear what you think of this new design!

I’m glad to know I wasn’t crazy when I thought I had already seen the hat. I will say Victoria seemed to wear it better; the angle Camilla is wearing it here is less flattering, and makes the peak on the crown seem more severe, especially since it’s the same crown shape of the one that won the June repeat poll. If Camila repeats this (as she should), I think it should be set more straight and that would improve the look of a great hat. Her outfit is also excellent; I especially love the white floral detailing.
I like this one particularly since the trim is more understated than some of her usual hats. Well done Camilla.
I do like this one quite a bit, though I agree that it’s a little too summery for mid-September. I also think it looks better on Camilla than on Victoria – must be the hair. Is this the first time two royals have actually selected the same hat? I feel like you hardly ever see that.
Also, just out of curiosity, is the brooch she is wearing an official Air Force insignia, or is the resemblance just coincidental?
So the collar needed to be steamed. Let’s move on.
It’s a lovely hat, interesting shape and nice trim. I think the white is a little too harsh for her coloring, and a bit odd to wear for in the Fall.
I like this a lot, a good look on her. Doesn’t CP Vic have a very similar number which she wore to her Father’s 70th?
I actually didn’t realise this was a new hat for Camilla, but she knows what suits her!
Good memory- Crown Princess Victoria has a very similar version of this hat with black trim instead of navy. Victoria’s hat was OC 153 from Philip Treacy’s SS 2016 collection while Camilla’s looks to be a bespoke version of the same design.
Concerning the left lapel of C’s coat, it looks like poor tailoring to me.
I’m wondering if the weight of the brooch is pulling the fabric down and causing the ripple effect. The hat is sharp, but I think the bright white looks a bit off, and I’m not sure the shape of the crown really suits her. But overall, a nice outfit!
There are some things I like about this hat. For example, the less exuberant trim of covered cord shaped into a wreath is perfect for a remembrance service. The pure white of the hat does seem to match the coat’s white embroidery — though in this case a cream hat might have gone as well, going along with her cream shoes. It is hard to tell in photos. There’s something about the crown that is off to me but I can’t put my finger on it. Is it too tall, or is the hat sitting too high on her head? Overall though, a pretty good look for the Duchess.
I like the hat, too. My only quibble is the left lapel of her coat. Is it supposed to be “wavy”?
It’s the weight of the brooch pulling the lapel. She wore this coat before and it looked normal.

Ah, very nice photo here. Thanks!
I like it and she looks very nicely turned out.
