For our second poll of 2018, we turn our attention to most successful new hats we saw worn in January and February. Ten designs were met with particular admiration, all in dark, wintry hues. It is now time to take a closer look at this group of cloche, bumper, wide brimmed, fedora, split crown and brimless designs and choose a top pick. The winner of this poll will be put forward as the first semi-finalist for Readers’ Favourite New Royal Hat of 2018.

Since 7 of the 10 hats are black, I feel compelled to vote for some COLOR! I love the Duchess of Cambridge’s alpaca hats (in all the different colors that she has) and Her Majesty’s purple hat is terrific. I did vote for 1 black hat though; Princess Philomena’s hat is lovely and I’m a big fan of organza.
