51 years to January 1968 and the loveliest peachy-yellow silk ruched turban with rose trim worn by Empress Michiko (she was crown princess at the time) to the Ueno Cultural Center in Tokyo.
The rose really lifts this one up and for a turban, it looks very modern. I can easily see Maxima wearing this outfit! I think the shoes date it more than anything else.

That rosette provides the right sort of punch to elevate this turban above many others. The Empress has long been an underrated elegant figure.
Mitten Mary, you posted what I was thinking. While I wouldn’t call this a bright yellow, I love the color. It reminds me of the “Peace” rose.
