Ascot 2024 Day 3: The Edinburghs

Ladies’ Day at Royal Ascot saw the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh in attendance, the Duke in his impeccable black antique silk top hat.

The Duchess wore a saucer hat in layered dusky pink pinokpok and lighter pink sinamay. The underside of the raised brim is trimmed with draped organza in similar shades of muted pink.

The shape of the saucer is great, as is the colour on Sophie. I’m less keen on the organza trim and would have chosen a hat in a different colour to pair with this dress.

  1. Love this color on Sophie, and the different shades in the underbrim trim really elevate the hat. I can see how the pinkish shade on the left side of the collar would have prompted the hat color, but maybe blue would have been better. The length of the dress really drags this look down. It’s such an interesting print, but her usual mid-calf would have suited her better.

  2. This is a better look for the DOE than yesterday, but apart from the color this isn’t a favorite hat or dress wise.

  3. I don’t love Sophie’s hat and I’m not really sure why. I think it needs to be angled slightly more?

  4. Sophie used to be one of my favorites at Royal Ascot but this year, I don’t like her outfits at all. The top half of this dress has almost no pink in the print at all!

  5. Thanks for all of your coverage of Ascot. I really love this color hat on Sophie. I love the shape as well. The dress seems too long and there isn’t much of the orchid color on it, which makes it seem like an odd pairing. Neck up though, I love it.
