Ascot 2024 Day 4: The Kents

Multiple members of the Kent family were spotted at the races today. Flora Vesterberg (née Ogilvy) wore a white satin covered pillbox with flat bow at the back. Her husband Timothy wore a black top hat.

Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor were part of today’s carriage procession, Frederick in a black top hat and Sophie in a dramatic white sidesweep covered in ostrich feathers.

At first glance, the hat makes a great Ascot statement thanks to those feathers! At closer view, however, you’ll see the base hat is made of felt – it’s an odd choice for summer and one that gives a less crisp and refined look than we saw on Queen Camilla’s feather covered hat today (her hat is sinamay). I think the lines of this hat are also at odds with the graphic lines on the neckline of the coat.
