Princess Beatrix Opens Wind Farm

Princess Beatrix visited Zeewolde today to open the Zuidlob Wind Farm. She wore a hat we’ve not seen in a while on her- an odd rusty-brown straw creation with pyramid crown and high, upturned layered bumper brim.

Pointy hat aside, it was lovely to see Beatrix looking so well, particularly after the numerous tragedies faced by the Dutch Royal Family this summer. The photo below, of Beatrix cheering on the children powering their pinwheels, warms my heart.

  1. She could wear anything and look great…don’t care for the hat yet it is wonderful to see her out and about. I have so admired for decades now and wish her the very best in the world. I truly love this strong independent intelligent compassionate woman, a true lady and survivor.

  2. I love Princess Beatrix! She is my favorite royal and I ALWAYS enjoy seeing which hat she has chosen to wear. (I don’t like the point though – don’t tell her. lol) 🙂

      • I think it’s our admiration for this fine lady that puts some of us in denial about how awful many her hats truly are. This is a prime example. Horrid hat but Princess Beatrix makes it look beautiful.

  3. I would never have thought this color would look so nice on her but it does! Her dress is very pretty too. I just don’t like the pointed top but everything else is very nice. She is one of my favorite royal ladies.

  4. It’s good to see Princess Beatrix out and about sporting her signature hat style. The hat looks excellent on her, and its pointed shape somehow reflects the technical aspect of a wind farm. And it looks warm. 🙂
