Queen and Duke of Edinburgh Visit Southwark Cathedral

Queen Elizabeth and The Duke of Edinburgh visited Southwark Cathedral in London this morning to view a new stained glass window that was created by Leifur Breidfjord to mark the Queen’s Damond Jubilee. The Queen repeated her purple wool felt Homburg style hat, a hat style we’ll learn more about next week. The shape of this crown (characteristic to this style of hat) with its two ‘bumps’ is not my favourite shape but I do like this hat on the Queen. There’s something about the slightly tilted brim, the narrow black band around the crown and the beautiful shade of aubergine that just works. I know we’ve seen this hat before but I’m curious what the rest of you think about it.

Dutch King and Queen visit Aruba

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima visited the island of Aruba today on the final leg of their inaugural Caribbean tour. Máxima repeated her pale gold ruched toque – a hat we have seen a few times this year. I don’t have strong feelings either way for this hat so will leave the opinions to all of you!

Danish Royals Go Hunting

Queen Margrethe, Prince Henrik, Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Joachim kicked off the Royal Hunt at Grib Skov yesterday. Queen Margrethe wore a Rapunzel headscarf while Prince Henrik wore a tweed newsboy cap (if you can look past his red socks to notice his hat). Prince Joachim was the only non-crazy dressed one of the bunch in a wintery wool fedora.  Don’t they all look like they are costumed for the reenactment of a Norse folk tale?! You can see a short video of this event on the Danish Royal website.
