The Danish Royal Family welcomed Turkish President Abdullah Gül and Mrs.Gül yesterday for a state visit to Denmark. To greet the Turkish couple at the airport, Queen Margrethe repeated her white flat disk hat trimmed with white fur. This remains one of my favourite of Margrethe’s hats although the whole look is a bit too icy white, in my opinion, for the start of spring.

Crown Princess Mary repeated a grey calot hat with leaf trim on one side. Her hairstyle complimented this hat beautifully; I also thought this hat was an understated compliment to Mary’s grey coat and black dress. I’m not usually a fan of closely fitting calot hats (they look like helmets!) but I thought this one was very fitting for today’s welcome ceremony.

Princess Marie topped off her tailored coat with a pink cocktail hat. This hat, comprised of multiple petals and a feather pouf center, was far from understated but I suppose it worked well enough on Marie. Again, I thought her low side chignon was the perfect hairstyle for this hat. It is nice to see Marie in some colour although I’m just not sure this hat was the right one for this event.

Previously Worn: I believe this headpiece is new.
Princess Benedikte looked elegant in a brimless black hat trimmed with a spray of black feathers. I think I may have preferred a navy hat with her coat and dress but this hat is lovely on her, especially with that hit of fuchsia lipstick.

It’s lovely to see the whole Danish royal family in attendance at these events. Which royal hat was your favourite today?

I like the Queen’s hat. I like Mary’s hat. I like Benedicte’s hat, although it is a bit strange to me accenting navy with black. Not a great fan of Marie’s, and I think it doesn’t strike the right note in this context – more suitable to a garden party or something.
Princess Benedikte wins for me – she looks very elegant in that hat. I do agree that navy blue would have been perfect, but Benedikte still looks lovely in the black.
Benedicte is one of my favorite ‘mature’ royals – always so elegantly turned out. I love her hat and the feathers. Marie – not her best look, hat or coat. I am on the fence with Mary’s hat. I don’t generally like that type, but it does look well with her coat. Note about coat – I am SO glad Mary chose to have this coat fitted (princess steaming?). Queens Maxima, Mathilde and the Countess of Wessex have all chosen coats lately with big, baggy construction. More cases od designers foisting off designs that are ‘fashionable’ but not attractive.
If anyone can pull off a calot, it’s CPM. She seems to wear it well, whether it’s the shape of her face or what IDK, and she makes sure her hairstyle compliments the look. Marie should have gone with a real hat IMO. Benedikte’s hat was lovely but agree on color choice. QM? Not a fan of many of her hatss, this one included, I don’t care for the squiggly embelishment on top as it looks like a bit of an afterthought.
Forgot about PB, now this is how you dress, she always gets it right, even more so then her sister the Queen!
The Queen looked the best of all of them, CPMary looked dull and boring and PMarie looked childish in that hat. I loved the Queen’s hat and even though it, the outfit< was all white, that's okay, spring is coming and she is just in a hurry for it.
I think Queen Margrethe’s hat is fabulous, as is her whole outfit. The hat goes beautifully with the coat.
I’m not crazy about the others’ hats. Too bad Princess Benedikte’s hat was black. Had it been blue, I probably wouldn’t have stared at it for such a long time, during which I decided I really didn’t like it anyway: too much at the back. (Rest of her outfit looked superb.)
I’m not fond of either of the young princesses’ hats. Mary’s does resemble a helmet, and Marie’s looks out of place at a reception for the Turkish leaders.
Mrs. Gül looks like herself.
Princess Benedikte has THE best hat! She exudes elegance!
My favorite hat is Princess Benedikte’s hat. I agree it would look lovely in a dark navy blue to match her coat & dress.
