Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik of Denmark arrived in China yesterday for a four day official visit. For a busy day of engagements today, Queen Margrethe debuted a new hat! This pale blue brimless pork pie featured gently flared sides that were horizontally pleated and trimmed with a blue and white patterned band that wrapped around the hat and formed a flower pinwheel on the side. The colour is a little paler than we are used to seeing on this colourful Queen; while I prefer her in brilliant colours, this light blue ensemble worked well. The pork pie is a more interesting shape than a pillbox (which is flat on all sides) and I thought the trim on this hat set it off beautifully. This is a very pretty hat, don’t you think?

She looks to be styling the late 1940’s – early 1950’s and the colour is wonderful. Her hat, is as always, uniquely Margrethe.
I like the hat, both its style and its color. It tops off the outfit nicely.
I know Queen Margrethe designs some of her own clothes, so I suppose she could equally be responsible for at least some of her hats… I think she looks lovely here. This whole outfit is great on her.
I think this is an attractive well-shaped hat for Queen Margrethe.
I love her pose in the 4th photo! I find this colour a little on the pale side for her but overall she looks good. And I love her red nail polish 🙂 Hat shape is good too.
Love the color. Who is the designer? It seems her hats are made by the same person, since they all have a similar shape.
I have no idea who designs Queen Margrethe’s hats. Can anyone help me with this mystery?
