Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik of Denmark continued their tour of China Saturday with visits to Sino-Danish University Centre and travel to Nanjing high-speed rail. For this busy day of events, Queen Margrethe unveiled another new hat. Made of navy wool, this hat carried a nautical vibe with its white braid trim around the brim and crown. The only thing that left me scratching my own head about this hat was the knotted mess on the side. Is it a nautical bow? Is it an anchor setting down under Margrethe’s brim? The odd embellishment aside, this high contrast hat worked well for Margrethe and her trademark red lipstick. What do you think of this nautical hat?
Designer: unknown
Previously Worn: I believe this is a new hat. I suspect we’ll see this hat again in a few weeks during the Royal Couple’s annual summer cruise.

Cute hat…the nautical knot work was a bit overdone but fun.
I think you’ve described the hat’s unique feature perfectly: “knotted mess on the side.” Not a winner.
This is a perfectly fine hat. However, it does look to me like the sort of run-of-the-mill that anyone could get from any department store, and I suppose I look for something rather more interesting from Royals who can afford designer hats and have more occasions to wear them! (Perhaps this hat is extremely well made and I’m just not seeing it!)
Or I guess maybe it’s that odd braided side tangle that makes it a designer hat. Hmm….
I agree Bristol. I see a hat that is just OK. Nothing more.
