Dutch Monarchs Observe Remembrance Day

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima attended the annual remembrance ceremony at the National Monument in Dam Square in Amsterdam yesterday. Máxima repeated an elegant stacked black calot hat for this sombre event. I thought it looked particularly striking with her cape.

  1. Max looks lovely here. So serene. One of the things I love about Willem-Alexander is that he is visibly moved by things. So often, Royals are so stoic. But you can tell is is moved. That speaks to his character.

  2. Beautiful hat but would have been better with hair up. Especially considering the nature of event

  3. I also like this hat a lot too – but ya know? I think that is a short cape with a dress under it and not a caped coat.
