Swedish Royal Christening

Princess Madeleine of Sweden and her husband, Christopher O’Neill, brought their infant daughter Princess Leonore to the chapel at Drottningholm Palace to be christened yesterday.

For this special event, Princess Madeleine topped off her pink lace Valentino dress with a delicate net veil headpiece trimmed in pink applique flowers. It was an unexpected choice but one that worked well with her delicate dress. The whole look was very light and pretty.

  1. Does Madeleine really hate hats or something? Between the single feather for the monaco wedding and her recent run of large hair clips it looks that way to me. I’m not critizing her for it, just wondering.

    • I wonder the same thing. We’ve not seen her in a true hat since 2009- it has been only fascinators since then. Perhaps this reflects her life, which has been out of the royal spotlight since 2010?

  2. I think a christening in a church requires a hat, and I think her lace dress was too tight and too short for a church service. Princess Madeleine is a beautiful woman with great fashion sense, and she really suits pink, but I think more conservative dressing was required for this occasion.

  3. I love that the day was full of little nods to her and Christopher’s 1st wedding anniversary. From christening their baby on June 8, to wearing a lace Valentino dress and then wearing a veil with flowers. It really was a lovely and sentimental way to express that it was their anniversary without flat out saying it.

  4. Lovely indeed, she looked wonderful. I love the headpiece with the veil, girly just like she is. It seems she likes lace a lot as do I.

  5. Princess Madelene looks really cute in this veil headpiece. I agree, a hat would have been too heavy with her lace dress.
