Spanish Royals on Vacation in Mallorca

Queen Sofia of Spain posed with six of her eight grandchildren this past weekend at the Calanova Sailing School in Palma de Mallorca. The group included Infanta Elena, who looked casually chic in a straw Panama fedora hat with chocolate band around the base of the crown. I think she wears this style of hat so effortlessly well.

Members of the family are on their annual summer vacation in Mallorca and were joined by the current King, Queen and their family who arrived today.

  1. I agree with your stand Hat Queen, as I don’t like to see the Paparazzi hunting people down when they are on private family holidays, with long telephoto lenses, and it must be frightening for the children to worry that they are being watched.

  2. It is good that Infanta Elena is setting a good example by wearing a hat for protection from the sun. She really suits this straw Panama fedora hat, and it is perfect for a summer holiday.

  3. Touché. I too appreciate the work that (must go) in to this blog, all for our enjoyment. It’s my secret guilty pleasure!!!! No, my family know I love it. I love being able to see when, and with what, the hats were previously worn. The other little features are good fun too, and educational – so much time and commitment. Good on you. 😊

    • You’re right- I have passed by a number of royal hats worn on private vacations this summer. I’m not interested in supporting paparazzi photos and want to respect private royal life when possible. When there is an official vacation photo opp (such as this one), I think that’s fair game.

Besides, the hats worn on private royal vacations are never that exciting.
