Princess Beatrix At Children’s Rights Summit

Princess Beatrix attended the Children’s Rights Summit in Leiden yesterday. For this event, which was jointly organized by UNICEF Netherlands and the Dutch Coalition on Children’s Rights, Princess Beatrix wore a two tone straw hat with domed crown and double rolled bumper brim. While I love the metallic sparkle threads woven into the gold straw outer brim, the contrasting colours of this hat aren’t working for me. What do you think of this colour blocked hat?

  1. I think she looks good, as always. She sure seems to like this style of hat and what’s wrong with that? I am a little tired of it, but that doesn’t matter one bit!

  2. I think this one would work better in all black or all beige with the side bow in the contrast color – or maybe even a double bumber brim with a sheer facing of black straw and the beige behind it.

  3. It isn’t working for me either, but she looks lovely as always. Just once I’d like to see her in any other kind of hat than than this. It is her go to style, and while nothing can dampen that smile or charisma, it just isn’t a hat I like or admire. It always looks like someone smashed a toque, sprayed it to the max, and popped it on her head. It is however, her go to style and no one could mistake it for anyone else’s hat. I know Queen Maxima has worn some of Princess Beatrix’ clothes on occasion, but I’d love it if HM would lend her some of her hats! Except for the donut hats…

  4. Not working for me either, I am not a fan at all of color blocking in anything. I think this is what designers do when they can’t think of anything else to do…………while I like the light tan color with her outfit on her, the entire hat of this color would of looked much nicer. Regardless though, I think is is great to see her, I enjoy seeing her out and about and looking so well. That smile and those pretty eyes say it all, she could wear a paper dress and hat and I would still love her.
