King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden arrived in Paris today to begin their three day state visit to France. Queen Silvia. For this arrival, Queen Silvia wore a red pillbox hat to coordinate with her striking red coat. The hat was swathed in a black tulle net veil and appeared to have a fold of black fabric that encircled the side of the hat in an abstract sort of stripe. It also looks like there was a flat red bow at the back of the hat. Silvia wears pillbox hats so very well and this one was no exception. There is a lot going on in this little hat but I thought it was balanced by the red coat and black accessories. What do you think of this new pillbox hat?

Love the hat, the tulle makes it interesting and, in my opinion, that bit nicer for a more mature woman. A plain pillbox might have been a bit harsh, this is a softer version. Red looks fantastic on Silvia. Bravo all round.
This outfit is well thought out and very attractive. The hat goes perfectly with the coat, the accessories and Queen Silvia’s hair.

Red is so nice. The veiling on the hat is old but new. It looks fine to me. I think a slightly taller hat may have looked nicer..the red would have shown more above her hair.
My problem are the shoes. I do not like the decoration on the front. The King does look so happy…lovely couple.
I love her red and black pillbox hat, but I would like it better without so much tulle veiling. Too cluttering. But, Queen Silvia is one of my favorite royals so whatever she likes is fine in my book!
I found a side/back view of the hat that shows more. I wanted to make sure it wasn’t a “donut” hat before I said that I loved it!

I love the coat. The black trim on the pillbox diminishes its impact as the black is too close to the queen’s hair color.
Oh wow, she looks amazing and so beautiful. I love this hat, I want this hat, being red with black tulle, it is a favorite as red is my color. And the coat is so chic. She most certainly is a queen in my books, that smile from ear to ear makes her look like she got the world on a string and loving every minute of it.

I love the hat and the lovely red coat that HM is wearing. She looks so happy and so full of energy. I always think the king looks much happier when the queen is with him. The hat reminds me of the hats Mrs. Kennedy used to wear in the sixties. This is one hat I would be happy to see again. The placement is just right and it looks so good on the queen. She is smiling so brightly that I suspect there is a secret that hasn’t yet been announced. Regardless, she is a delight to see, and I agree, that if central casting needed a queen, she would look like Sylvia. She looks and acts the part. She seems to be a real people person and has warmth and dignity at the same time. That is a hard one to pull off.
Vive la reine Silvie! Beautiful hat and an excellent overall outfit. I once heard a newscaster say that if you were to send to Central Casting for a queen, they would send Queen Silvia.
