The Norwegian royal family attended Christmas Day church at the Holmenkollen Chapel in Oslo. Queen Sonja wore a grey-brown felt hat with rounded crown and short brim that was upturned around the back. The hat was trimmed with a wide band of ribbon around the crown that fanned into a flat rosette style bow on the side. While the hat is fine, I thought its shade was not a good pairing with her latte coloured coat. I think this is a case of too much mismatched brown in one ensemble.

I liked that hat and the coat but the two do not work together. Like sandra I also saw the red circle on the Queen’s face. I wondered if HatQueen put it there to draw our attention to something.
Alas, I did not! The photo was marked in this way for an unknown reason.
It was marked that way because Q Sonja underwent therapy for damage on her skin and had a plaster over her nose.
I think Queen Sonja, nailed it, with a capital NI. The shades of brown, the length of the coat , the hat and the jewels just pulled everything together. Love it all.
Love the hat…but not with this coat.
I agree.
Yes, either the hat or the coat, but they don’t go together at all. (Actually I prefer the coat to the hat anyway.)
I’m assuming that’s a photographer’s mark on Queen Sonja’s face in the top photo … yes, brown does seem to be a colour this year doesn’t it? (Thinking of Kate and Autumn at Sandringham too.)
