#7 is my favorite on Camilla. She could wear that every day and I wouldn’t complain! #24 for Kate (please this year, wear hats with brims! please!). #28 for Beatrice, #41 for Eugenie (though to be honest I don’t love any of them) and #44 for Sophie.
After reading all of these 2014 Hats posts, I am surprised to find that the Duchess of Cornwall is my favorite royal hat wearer, by far! 🙂 Princess Kate would be my second, because I’m a big Kate fan.
Thank heavens for Camilla. She is our hope for hats….I just lover her choices.
Camilla gets full value from the money spent on her clothes and her hats. They are well matched in terms of hairstyle, silhouette, colour coordination and accessories. The result is that happy and at ease look that a good hat and outfit brings. I loved 2 and 4 almost more than her wonderful large brimmed hats. My favourite there is 5 – a lovely colourful outfit. I don’t like 1 her Paddington Bear hat but it is hard to find a warm hat that looks good.
Catherine’s hats are well coordinated with her outfits. 17, 23 and 24 were favourites. A black hat for solemn occasions will always be important in her role and 24 is a good example. I am in favour of banishing all plate hats (20) regardless of how exquisite the decoration and anyway Catherine doesn’t need the lengthening effect they supply.
What I want from Beatrice and Eugenie is actually not to see them again until they learn how to put together an outfit. They are breaking my heart with their ill-fitting clothes and shoes and their ill conceived outfits. If pushed I would say that 28 and 30 and 41 had some promise (unfulfilled).
That leaves Sophie who I think is seduced by beautiful hats rather than what suits her, matches her wardrobe and meets the requirements of her role. She has some fabulous hats such as 44 and 50 and even 43 the “roadkill” hat. However, I think she often kills her look with poor coordination. For example 51 is an interesting hat but black doesn’t do much for her, the dress is a bit long and the overall effect is rather sombre for Ascot.. No 52 is a good hat but she looks swamped by a poorly fitted coat. No. 42 is one of my least favourite hats of the year because it looks so awkward on her closely followed by 49 which is over decorated, too tall, poorly positioned and has only colour to recommend it, at least on Sophie. All this is terribly critical and I would loathe such scrutiny. I’d just like to see her beautiful and expensive millinery better deployed.
I adore hat # 8. The Duchess of Cornwall looks marvelous. Definitely on my best list!
#53 is my nomination for worst of the year! I will not say anything else about it. 🙂
Duchess of Cornwall: #8 and #5 are wonderful. Camilla wears the large hats so well!
Duchess of Cambridge: The trilby, # 24. I guess I am tired of the perchers.
Princess Bea: The gold #30, sort of. Otherwise none.
Princess Eugenie: The one from Christmas, # 41.
Countess of Wessex: I love #42, the vertical plate! So different and interesting. I also like # 47 a lot.
Cam so often goes for the large and splashy hat look that I was please to see #10. Nice color with her skinandhair, nice size in relation to the rest of her head and body. Easy to get in and out of a car. But still a dress-up look as though she cares to look her nicest for the group she is visiting. I liked many of Kates hats individually but as a group, the look too similar with all the choices in the world for her to choose from. My choice this year for best is 25 since it looks different with each outfit she pairs it with.Hard to even choose with the York girls. Either they havent finished experimenting or they simply dont have hat friendly looks. If forced (which I am not) I’d pick #28 for Bea – not too fussy and sort of romantic and exotic.Even forced, I can’t pick a einner for Eugenir. A lovely girl, but so far no hat does her any justice
My family and I have discussed these hats and read the comments and we decided the following:
Duchess of Cornwall: best hat is Photo 9; worst hat is Photo 1.
Duchess of Cambridge: best hat is Photo 15; worst hat is Photo 20.
Princess Beatrice: best hat is Photo 28; worst hat is Photo 29.
Princess Eugenie: best hat is Photo 40; worst hat is Photo 39.
Countess of Wessex: best hat is Photo 51; worst hat is Photo 53.

I have 3 nominations for my favourite hats this year #8, #28 and #51
I also have 3 favs: 17, 50 and 51. 17 is just super pretty and 50 &51 were knockout STUNNERS.

Duchess of Cornwall looks best in brimmed hats, and 6 is the best here I think and I would wear it myself. I also think 8, 9 & 10 look good on her. I think her worst look was the overly trimmed 12, and I hated her stick insect brooch too.
Duchess of Cambridge looks better in hats that don’t come down over her face, however, I did like 17 and the outfit she wore with it. I liked the red pillbox at 15.
Princess Beatrice and I don’t share the same taste in clothes, hats or accessories. I didn’t like anything she wore really and wouldn’t wear these hats myself except that I do like fedoras, so I might wear number 32, though it’s too big for her head. Her worst hat was 29, which looked like giant slices of orange peel.
Princess Eugenie’s best look was 41, followed by 40, and I would wear both these hats gladly. Her worst hat was 39 which looked like roadkill on her head.
The Countess of Wessex looks fabulous when she gets it right, but she can look a hot mess when she doesn’t. Her worst hat was 53, and it is one of the worst hats of the year. it’s a shame because the color looked good on her and combined well with her navy outfit, but the shape was hideous. Second worst was 43, which looked like roadkill on her head and had no connection to her pink coat. Her best hat was 51, and I would love to closet raid this hat for myself. I also liked 45, 48, 50 and 54.

I tried to pick a favorite and least from all 5 but I didn’t care for any of Beatrice’s hats.
49 and 50 on the Countess of Wessex were completely spectacular.
I like best on Camilla, #6. I notice that she usually wears the angle of the hat perfectly. My favorites of Catherine were #6, and especially 24. I liked #6 not from this picture, but from others at the time. I see nothing that Beatrice wore that appealed to me, but Eugenie on the other hand looked lovely in #38. One of the all time worst is #53.
I like #28 for the shape (fewer cocktail hats in 2015 please!) and #30 for the color especially. I’m surprised that I don’t particularly like any of Kate’s hats. I’m not a fan of her clothing but I thought her hats are generally nice, just not this year. I’m also surprised Sophie didn’t give me any favorites!
Camilla looked great all year and absolutely love she still wears massive hats. My personal favorite was #8, but overall so many were repeats, so when I’ve seen them multiple times over the years, it gets more difficult to say which is a favorite. #13 was my favorite for Kate (I’m also biased because green’s my favorite color), but she just didn’t wow me this year. She needs more variety, a.k.a. some bigger brims and more design variety of her earlier hat days. I like #28 and #29 on Beatrice, with 29 being my favorite for her (especially paired with her outfit), but I’m still slightly confused about the felt being worn at Ascot. Eugenie shined in #34 and #41 this year. The Yorkies are amazing when they get it right, but otherwise it seems like they’re still trying a bit too hard. Sophie disappointed me this year; I was not excited with her hats, and she had very little color. #50 was my favorite, but as the whole outfit was cream, I wasn’t as wowed as I could’ve been. Finally, while not on this list, I was reminded of Lady Brabourne’s gorgeous red hat at Ascot, and it definitely belongs in my top 5 hats of the year.
Duchess of Cambridge and the Yorks do not have their style figured out yet. The duchess of Cambridge could do so much better with hats hair and makeup. Let’s hope 2015 although it will be a busy year with a new baby is the year she does a complete makeover. I think Eugenie will figure it out but not as much hope for her sister.
The Duchess of Cornwall does have her style and it is almost perfect. I was expecting some different hats to show up in this grouping. I saw hat 8 from a different side angle and it was lovely.
Sophie does well but there still are some misses. I like 46 47 51 and 54.

Worse goes to the Yorks right across the board.
The larger and more exaggerated the hat worn by the Duchess of Cornwall, the better. She doesn’t come off as a delicate person, and she needs non-delicate hats. I particularly like 7, 8 and 12.
The Duchess of Cambridge always looks all right, but nothing stands out. I wish she would develop a personalized style.
The Countess of Wessex looks particularly nice in 50 and 51 but always stands out.
#4, 27 and 53 are my least favorites.
The hat Kate wore Easter Sunday in Sydney was so beautiful, especially paired with the beautiful coat. The other hat I liked was Camilla’s pink picture hat. Someone knows how to dress her to show her off to best advantage. Whomever dresses these two know their job as very seldom do these two not look spectacular.
oh yes. I missed that one. Kate in 17. i think that is an all time winner for the entire outfit. Thanks for pointing that out.
I love Beatrice’s large Ascot hat, a wide brim is beautiful on her. Her orange number was fresh and fun too. Camilla did her usual thing, but she does it so well I’m not complaining. I’m afraid I’m bored by Kate’s usual thing though – I just want more from her. Which leaves Sophie – her Ascot hattery in particular was fabulous – I think her black flyaway hat might be my favourite of the year.
I like #’s 7,8,23,28,29,45,47. I like Princess Beatrice’s bold style. Definitely hat 28 was a great look for her, and completely unique!
