The Hereditary Grand Duke and Duchess of Luxembourg are in Poland this week to attend the 70th anniversary commemoration of the liberation of Auschwitz. Yesterday, the couple officially unveiled a Luxembourgish plaque to remember Holocaust victims who died at this site. The plaque reads: “This place shall forever be a cry of despair and warning to mankind. Here the Nazis murdered one and a half million men, women and children, most of them Jews, from different countries in Europe.”
To dedicate this tribute, Princess Stèphanie wore a simple brown felt hat. The upfolded brim of the oval hat featured a subtle wave shape that spread out into gentle points on each side of the hat.

Royal Hats 
I think this is borrowed from her mother in law. I’ve seen MT in the same or similar hat before but i can’t find the picture. It was winter time, either a state visit or international royal event and MT was wearing a huge fur stole with it. Can anyone help?

Kudos to the Hereditary Grand Ducal Couple for their attendance. I loved Hereditary Grand Duchess Stèphanie’s unusual shaped hat and brown really suits her, and it is usually a hard to wear color. She could have done without the faux fur on the coat however. RIP to all the victims.
I think you are correct TiarasRUs. This is probably the best hat I have seen this Princess wear and the brown compliments her very very fair complexion and blonde hair. I also disliked this fake fur. I know some people think it is better to wear fake fur than real fur, but some fake fur is made from skinned dogs and cats. I don’t like the look of fur on clothes anyway.
Definitely one of Stephanie’s best hat choices. Always interesting when they choose brown instead of black for these types of occasions.
I’m a fan of Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie and her husband. This was such a horrific anniversary to acknowledge but I though Stephanie and her husband represented their country appropriately.
I agree with Peggy says: January 27, 2015 at 6:48 pm, and I do think Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie’s hat was elegant and appropriate for the occasion.
