Takamado Princess Opened Tablewear Festival

On Saturday, Princess Hisako of Takamado officially opened the 2015 Japanese Tableware Festival at the Tokyo Dome. For this exhibition, she topped her vibrant blue suit with a small, coordinating hat. I’m not usually a fan of such flat hats but the scale worked well for Hisako and the petite brim was a lovely change from the many brimless hats we see on members of the Imperial royal family. The colour was wonderful on Princess Hisako and made this hat seem like a big improvement over what she wore to this event last year. It’s a winner for me- what do you think?

  1. A great outfit…. for 1986.

Seriously- who is wearing this shade of blue these days? Love that the Japanese royals have their own style but I soooooo wish it was better.

  2. The blue color is delightful and the sharply tailored suit and small matching hat suit her petite, slim figure and brunette coloring very well. The suit and hat she wore last year didn’t flatter her coloring at all. That hat from last year was just ugly.

  3. Princess Hisako of Takamado’ electric blue suit and hat looked colourful and chic. With such a vivid colour, it made sense to op for a simple style of hat. I liked this small hat. The oxblood colour she wore last year was rather drab on its own, and needed something to brighten it up. I liked the suit she wore then. But the hat looked like an upturned bowl and the charcoal colour on the hat added nothing to improve it.

    • I second your post Alex. This bright blue would not be something that I could wear myself, but it works with her dark hair, exquisite olive complexion, and petite frame. If I was choosing a suit for myself, I would wear the oxblood suit from last year’s event, though not the hat.

  4. I am so “of two minds” when it comes to the women of the Imperial Family and what they are wearing. It’s almost like they’re from another century, and I do apologize if I have offended anyone. The color and style of the Princess’s suit was lovely, but her hat was so “expected” that it was boring, even if it was the same color of her suit. Why did she wear a hat at all?

  5. Love the color; still not a fan of the smallish hats the Imperial family favors even if this one is slightly different. That said, I love that the Imperial Family as a whole seem to be wearing brighter colors which look so well with their beautiful coloring.
