Swedish Royal Christening

On Saturday, members of the Swedish Royal Family gathered at the Royal Chapel in Stockholm for the christening of Désirée Magnuson, daughter of Gustav Magnuson and Vicky Andren Magnuson (and granddaughter of Princess Christina). For this special event, Princess Christina wore a black and white cocktail hat with a flat, disk base and mass of feathers on top. While I we don’t have a good view of it to know for certain, I don’t think this hat is attractive or flattering to its wearer, two things a royal hat really should be.

Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Madeleine attended the christening with their families (Queen Silvia is recovering from a recent skiing injury to her shoulder and was unable to attend). Little Princess Estelle and Princess Leonore were adorable, as usual, in their grosgrain ribbon hairbows.

  1. Princess Christina’s entire look is a disaster. The hat is ugly, her hair is a mess, and her outfit is drab and dated. This was a big miss. Why weren’t the other royal ladies wearing hats for a christening? I like their outfits. The little Princesses look lovely and their little bows are so cute. Princess Estelle looks very pleased to have that gorgeous little handbag. I still recall getting my first handbag and dressy hat to go to my cousin’s wedding when I was four.

  2. The littlest princess are adorable and I love their bows, just what cute little girls wear. PC, no words to describe what a horrible hat that is, a fly away mess for sure and she is such a pretty lady. I also wish the ladies wore more hats but maybe the daughters will in the future.

  3. Princess Christina’s hat looks like a rooster’s comb gone wrong. The children are adorable in their cute bows and Princess Estelle’s little bag is delightful. They are all dressed very nicely, but I do wish there were more hat wearers.

  4. Princess Christina’s hair was as wind-blown as her hat. The younger royals were as stylish as usual. Little Estelle is growing up to be a real charmer. Her infectious smile makes me feel good.
