Princess Eugenie of York celebrated her 25th birthay on Monday. When thinking about the hat I would most like to see her repeat this year, I considered her bright pink Juliette Botterill pillbox and textured grey Sarah Cant saucer before settling on this emerald green embellished beret by Stephen Jones. It’s the colour that made my decision- a colour that looks absolutely beautiful on Eugenie. This is the hat I would like to see brought out again- which one of her hats would you like to see Princess Eugenie to repeat in the coming year?

Loved her pink pillbox this Christmas. It was brilliant!
Here it is- a Juliette Botterill design.

The green hat is OK but the pink ones are so great! I also always loved this one with her pink dress and black jacket. I’m sorry but I don’t know who the designer is.

The designer is Philip Treacy.
This is my favorite hat of hers, and one of my favorite coats of hers.
It’s so fun to see all of these hats! I love these birthday posts! I can’t find a picture of it but Eugenie wore a bright pink fedora with a black coat I think it was for Christmas. It was really cute on her.
She did! It was Christmas Day, 2009.

Princess meets international woman of mystery / spy. It works for her.
I agree Alice. She really looks good in a fedora.
Last year Eugenie wore two black hats with wispy light brims that were very pretty. I’d wear these hats.

Both these hats with black crin were designed by Nerida Fraiman
I like the hat and dress in the top photo. The second hat might work if her hair was pulled back.
I am afraid I do not like any of the hats and that is only because of her messy hair. I think the green hat would look great if the decorations didm´t have to fight with stringy hair. Updo, low chignon or ponytail would be so much better.
Look past the hair. In the end, it doesn’t change the hat anyway.
To refrase, all the hats are very nice by themselves. I just do not think the wearer makes them justice. I think hair is a very important part of total look of the hat.
That green hat is so cute on her.
I agree Maryanne. The green color is perfect for her and the hat has a cute, young, whimsical look.

as long as she never wears this again I’m good

In an effort to give design credit whenever possible- this was a Philip Treacy creation.
I’m willing to give this hat another chance. Perhaps with a better dress, remove the feathers or a different angle. The hat has enough style in its shape, bright color and big rose detail. The fussy jacket, odd cut of the skirt and dramatic hat unfortunately created an OTT look for Princess Eugenie that day.
I agree Avery. The whole look was too over the top.
The green hat really is a great color on Eugenie.
A few years ago, she wore the most beautiful black and white picture hat (to Ascot I think). It was white with a black stripe around the brim. For months and months after I saw it, I seriously lusted after that hat!
I think you’re referring to this one- she wore it at the Epsom Derby June 4, 2011

I love this hat and it suits her so well! A neater hairdo could have been the icing on the cake.
Beautiful hat. I also hope she repeats this and the dress.
Gorgeous. I wish she wore more larger hats because this is superb.
This is one of my favorite hats of hers. It is also one of her best overall outfits. Pity about the messy hair.
One of her best looks ever was her red Vivian Westwood dress and black cocktail.

I really like this hat and outfit also…..but it appears as navy blue on my monitor.
I agree Gigi, this was a great look, though I prefer her in larger hats.
Gigi I agree. This red dress is the most flattering of all her day dresses I think. The hat is cute too, but she needed a more formal hairdo to really make this look work.
I like this one and the pink one the best, but she does look good in most of her hats. My granddaughter had her birthday yesterday too, but sadly, no hat! The green color on this hat looks really good with Princess Eugenie’s coloring.
This looks wonderful on Princess Eugenie! I like your other two choices as well… 🙂
Me too! When I read the headline on this post I couldn’t think of a single hat of hers I actually like. This one and your 2 backup suggestions are great.
Now that she lives in the USA, are we going to see her in less hats?
Good question. We see Eugenie in hats at all the big British Royal events (Trooping the Colour, Ascot, Christmas etc.) and so far, she has returned to England for these events. If her life becomes permanently rooted in New York, it seems inevitable that her attendance at these things would decrease. We’ll have to wait and see!
Janae I read that she is only temporarily in New York training with Paddle8 Auctioneers, and the plan is that she will transfer back to their British office. The Yorks seem to be a very close family, despite their parents’ divorce, so I couldn’t imagine her taking a permanent job overseas. I hope we do see more from her. When she gets it right, she can look voluptuous, feminine and whimsical. She needs to learn to style herself better, especially as she so often spoils her look with messy hair.
