On Friday, Queen Sonja was in Halden to celebrate the town’s 350th anniversary. For these festivities, she wore an ivory felt cloche hat trimmed with monochromatic felt leaves at the side. It’s a very streamlined hat and I thought its pairing with the brass buttoned ivory cape looked quite smashing on the Norwegian Queen.

The cloche shape suits Sonja so well. Love this hat on her.
In certain instances, cream and white go together if both have the same opposite color somewhere on each piece. While the cloche seems to have a white band, the cape needs to have something cream on it. Possibly, the brass buttons could have been exchanged for some beautiful cream buttons or possibly smaller brass buttons with a banding of cream on the cape.
Stunning hat, elegant look xxx
Queen Sonja really suits this ivory felt cloche hat trimmed simply with monochromatic felt leaves at the side. This is one of the best hats I have ever seen her wear. As some other readers have said, the cape looks white, and a mis-match to the hat. I don’t mind the idea of the brass buttons, but they are a bit too large, and distracting.
Sonja wears this shape, and this particular hat, quite well. I’m not a fan of the gigantic brass buttons though.
I agree with you, especially about the buttons that seem to over power her cape. But otherwise, she looked very nice.
The buttons overwhelm the outfit. Other than that I think it is fine.
Not a fan of the cape for the button direction but I do like the hat – would be a fan of the cap if the buttons were alined vertically.
It’s quite a stylish ensemble isn’t ot, that cape is fab. However i do have a niggle – to my eyes the cape is white and the cloche is cream. Nonetheless she looks lovely.
The trouble with photographs is that the colour is often not true – it may seem to us that there is colour miss-match, but I am sure the person concerned would not have chosen to wear something that did not match.
