Last Wednesday, Queen Máxima celebrated her 44th birthday. I want to send our belated best wishes to the Dutch queen today with suggestions of hats we would most like to see her repeat in the coming year. My pick is a hat we have not seen for a long while- this large brimmed picture hat in bright magenta straw wrapped in feathers. I think Queen Máxima is at her millinery best in large hats in bold colours and I would love to see this Fabienne Delvigne design make another outing. What hat would you like to see her repeat this year?

Royal Hats 
There are so many hats I want to see come back from Maxima’s past! Very difficult for me to choose, so I’m gonna narrow it down to 4 to save everyone:

And I know I’ll get booed for this, but I personally loved that hat from Pieter-Christiaan and Anita’s wedding. I don’t think it’ll ever be repeated, but I can dream, right?
There’s a lot of pink hats suggested here. I love it! No one wears bright pink or red better than Max. I love all the pink hats but since no one has suggested it, gotta go with this red hat. She has a lot of those red turbans but only one with a brim and she looks fab in it.

I love this red hat but I liked it better the time she wore it with her hair up.
That was on their November 2013 trip to Russia.

I love the black and white hat she wore for Prince Friso and Princess Mabel’s wedding. I always thought this was one of the most regal, grand and elegant royal hats.

Agree with your pick HatQueen. My picks are the 2 two hats she wore to the 2004 Royal weddings. The Ivory/Black one from the Late Primce Johan-Friso’s wedding and the one she wore to the Prince Felipe’s. To my knowledge she’s never repeated those.
Great choices! You’re correct- both of these hats have only been worn once. The black and white one you mentioned was also suggested by Eliza above and here is the pink one at the Spanish royal wedding.

I love your choice for a repeat hat for Max. I appreciate that the pointy ends of her hairpins aren’t sticking out. She does big, bold hats so well that I feel disappointed when she wears something small. I’d say my personal favorite hat would be the silver rose hat she wore when her second daughter was christened.
Really want her to wear the pink beret covered in ribbon she wore in the Carribean. Super cute.

I thought Queen Maxima looked smashing in the magenta large hat with the matching dress which was part of their coronation celebration, I believe. Really, though, the only hat I am not fond of for QM is those turbans that are open in the back.
Hmmm…. she didn’t wear a hat for any of the inauguration events. Perhaps you’re thinking about the Opening of Parliament in September 2012 or their trip to Poland in June 2014?

The first time I saw Maxima wear a hat it was at the wedding of Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien. It was a very elegant hat. Did she ever wear it again? I think no.

This was too much IMO but would make a great “Look-at-me” Royal Ascot hat.
That’s a flamenco hat gone wrong. Gotta love Max. No one can beat her when she’s looking great but when it’s a disaster, it’s epic.
