On Saturday, Princess Beatrix was in Amersfoort to participate in the 70th anniversary of the Foundation 1940-1945. For this event, she repeated her navy straw hat with short brim and straight, flat crown. This hat is embellished with two things often seen on Princess Beatrix’s hats- a diagonal band around the top of the crown and a pair of straw loops on the side. It is a lovely colour on her although it reads a little flat worn with this monochrome ensemble. I much prefer this hat worn with some pattern, as it was the last time we saw it. What do you think?

I like it, but always like a little bit of white with dark colors.
Looks suitable for the serious occasion.
The ensemble looks very good on Princess Beatrix. Love the cut of the suit and the hat complements it. Not too much navy for me!
Her hat is very nice – not to wedding cake-ish. I love the close up that showed off the hat pin! And the brooch is wonderful, but not enough to alleviate the wall of navy
I’m with you on this rgardner532.
Lovely hat, but I agree that entire ensemble was dull and needed other color.
Sophisticated….nice.
