On Saturday, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie commemorated Danish Flag Day by laying a wreath at Kastellet (The Citadel) and attending a memorial service for Danish soldiers at the Church of Holmen in Copenhagen. For this event, Princess Marie repeated her black headpiece with looped black silk organdie ribbons. This piece frames Marie’s face so beautifully and and the scale, which is as large as a small hat, is a very flattering one for her. Black hats can look very flat and one dimensional but this piece has a lovely sense of layered texture and movement while remaining perfectly appropriate for a memorial occasion.

Out of all the times she’s worn this headpiece, this is the best! She looks fantastic here, and the hairstyle is perfect for showing off the details of the fascinator.
love it
I’m interested in the Prince’s military hat. I wonder how he keeps it from sliding off his head? Is it made from felt?
Marie looks great. A very chic look and the white touch makes it slightly less somber.
It’s funny, I have a very similar skirt by H&M but after close inspection of the pictures, hers seems to come from a different designer. The fabric of mine is shinier and the cut wider.
Joachim looks very gaunt, is he well?
I do like Princess Marie’s black headpiece, because it is more substantial than a simple fascinator, and the looped black silk organdie ribbons add a feminine touch, and it helps to frame her face very well. I prefer it on this outing with a neater hairstyle than last time with her hair down. It looks more elegant today.
Very appropriate for the occasion. I thought she looked lovely.
It looks quite nice to me.
