Queen Margrethe was at the Royal Guard barracks today in Goethersgade to attended a parade and present the ‘Queen’s Clock’ service award. She wore her red felt hat with trimmed in bands of black and the same tweed as her suit. It’s an ensemble well suited to a military event and Queen Margrethe certainly stood out in the crowd…. but I’m ready to see her in a few new pieces of millinery.

Very stylish hat. Fits very well to her suit. Her Majesty celebrated with us 100 years of Company not long time ago:)
Queen Margrethe looks so good in red, but that shade of brown is so drab, and the brown and black bands on the hat are ugly. I never like tweed trims on hats, and this is a perfect example of why this doesn’t seem to work.
I have said it before…. And I also mean no disrespect. For such an artistic person, one who even designs costumes for ballets, the Danish Queen certainly has a prosaic wardrobe. And she wears it over and over again. I wonder why? Even Prince Henrick wears more interesting clothes.
The Danish queen seems to have gotten her money’s worth from this outfit. After seeing QE2’s dazzling ensembles, I just don’t see too much regal-ness here. Sorry, I don’t mean to sound disrespectful . . . maybe her budget is a bit tighter. BTW, HQ, will you be doing a Queen Elizabeth black hat retrospective soon? It’s been sooooo boring at work, lately.
I am also looking forward to the retrospective in Elizabeth II’s black hats.
