Princess Beatrix as at the Hermitage Amsterdam yesterday to officially open an exhibition on Spanish Masters. For this engagement, she wore a silver threaded lavender straw hat with flat crown and double upturned brim.

The photo below shows the hat’s simple trim- a wide band of metallic woven straw wrapped around the brim and knotted on the side. The knot is such a great alternative to a bow or spray of feathers, providing that little bit of extra ‘something’ to the piece. The colour of this piece is so pretty on Princess Beatrix and looks wonderfully luxurious paired with her wrap.

I can’t find any previous outings of this hat- do any of you remember seeing it before?

Princess Beatrix always wears those large, distinctive hats, but I have never been a fan. This one seems to fit better than most and doesn’t look too huge. The colour is so flattering on her and I like her wrap, but not that dated paisley outfit.
Lovely! The amethyst wrap with the hat is just wonderful!
Amazing, simply amazing. Not just the hat but the whole look.
Gorgeous colour and that wrap is divine.
This is one of the best outings for Beatrix this year, and definitely one of my favorite looks and hats on her in a long time. The lavender and purple are such great colors for her, ones she should wear more often. My complaint is how loud the paisley print of her outfit is; the wrap/coat definitely helps tone it down.
The hat has a spectacular color and shine. As others have commented, the top half of the ensemble is perfect.
I LOVE the color of this hat! Absolutely a winner!
Princess Beatrix knows what she likes and what she feels comfortable in. I really ahvelost a hard time imagining her in another style of hat. The colours are lovely in her and she looks happy. That counts for a lot.
I like the hat, certainly better than many of her *bumper* style hats. I suspect that the material is sinamay and that the “silver” is actually the sheen created by the sizing.
I love the color with the wrap color.
However, the print pattern of the dress has some unfortunate placement.
Lovely!
Guess. I will quietly add the dress from the waist down and also the colour of the flowers do not work.
OH I LOVE IT….yes I am shouting as it is outstanding. Wink.
