After looking at Belgium’s entries into our Best New Royal Hat of 2015 championship, we’re moving on to Denmark today. While The Danish royals welcomed just a handful of new hats this year, there is considerable variety of colour and style in these pieces. I have omitted three hats from the poll (this casual straw one, Princess Marie’s purple fascinator and Princess Mary’s flower trimmed black hat) for streamlining purposes. Click on any of the photos to jump back to original posts to see additional description and detail of the hats.
A note about voting- the hats with the most votes across this semifinal will move forward to the final face off. If you don’t think any of these hats are worthy of the title of Best of 2015, save your vote (or take another look at the Belgian royal hats). The next poll will be up on Sunday.
Queen Margrethe:
Crown Princess Mary and Princess Marie:
Princess Benedikte:
Do you think any of these hats deserve to be named best royal hat of the year? Cast your vote below. Voting will remain open until January 1, 2016- you can vote for multiple hats once per day.
I consider Queen Margrethe’s best new hat this year to be the minty hat, pictured at Number 3. It was such an unusual shape and a very complimentary shade of green for her. I consider Crown Princess Mary’s brown fedora, pictured at Number 5, to be the best hat she wore this year. She really suits this style of hat. I consider Princess Marie’s fedora, pictured at Number 8, to be the best hat she wore this year. I do like fedora hats a lot on the right wearer. I consider Princess Benedikte’s blue raised brim hat, pictured at Number 9, to be the best hat she wore this year and the overall best new Danish Royal hat. The shade of blue is great for her and the hat is simple and the shape suits her face perfectly.
I know 6 it is a very familiar hat, but it looks good, not to fussy. It gets my vote
The fedoras of Crown Princess Mary and Princess Marie are definitely among my top 10 hats of the year.
We are voting for number 1!
I’m picking 5 over 6 only because, as HatQueen posted, 6 is already familiar. I still think the Countess of Wessex wore it best. But 3 and 10 are both fun, too.
It’s a tough call to include a hat that was ‘new’ for one royal when it was worn the previous year by two others!
I’d say number 1, a jolly but tasteful hat.
Number 3 – she looked fabulous that day and that minty colour is so good on her.
Was #4 purchased at a “scratch and dent” sale? That is my favorite of the queen’s new hats. It protects her wonderful smile from the harmful rays. I am 1/4 Danish, and must wear a hat almost year-round.
Is there supposed to be a voting sheet here as there was for Belgium? I don’t see it.
Number 5 is my favorite
I like number 6!
