We have come to our final royal house in our look at the best new royal hats of 2015. There were, however, so many British royal hats this year that we’ll narrow down our favourites in two royal polls. To streamline each one, I have omitted a number of less memorable hats (links are provided below).Click on any of the photos to jump back to original posts to see additional description and detail of the hats.
The hats with the most votes across this semifinal will move forward to a final poll. If you don’t think any of these hats are worthy of the title of Best of 2015, save your vote (or jump back to vote again for hats from Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands, Luxembourg and Norway as well as Monaco, Greece, Dubai and Qatar).
Queen Elizabeth (not including this blue and magenta hat, this blue tweed hat, this grey bowed hat, this black hat, this blue bucket hat, this white hat, this white hat, this turquoise pleated hat, this pale peach hat and the red hat with faux fur trim she wore yesterday)
The Duchess of Cornwall (not including this mint green hat, this tweed fur hat and the black one worn yesterday)
Princess Alexandra of Kent
UPDATE by request, I have added, The Duchess of Cornwall’s mint green hat with twists and Queen Elizabeth’s brown hat with cream bow.
Also omitted from this poll were hats worn by the Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Michael of Kent, Princess Anne (see here, here and here) and the Duchess of York. That leaves the thirteen hats seen above- do you think any of them deserve to be named best new royal hat of the year? Cast your vote below. Voting will remain open until January 1, 2016 and you can vote for multiple hats up to four times per day.
I consider the Queen Elizabeth’s yellow hat with tea rose trim, picture 3, the best of a fairly boring hat selection from her this year. The Duchess of Cornwall’s sky blue flyaway brim hat, pictured at 9, was her only outstanding hat this year. She has had better millinery years. I consider Princess Alexandra’s turquoise hat with tulle and feathers, pictured at 12, to be one of her best hats ever, and definitely one of the best British Royal hats for 2015. This shade of blue is perfection on her.
HatQueen, are we not going to vote on hats from the Imperial Family of Japan? They had many new hats this year that I liked. The Imperial Family may not give us the most breathtaking hats, but they can be relied upon to give us some good ones! Best Wishes for the Festive Season to HatQueen and all the Royal Hat fandom.
Thanks for these retrospectives HatQueen! I am amazed at just how many new Royal hats were worn this year. I have to say that I was rather disappointed Her Majesty didn’t wear a greater variety of hat types like she did years ago.
i would love to see the hat Queen Elizabeth wore during the opening ceremony of the CHOGM included. Its such a lovely piece and fits her so well
Can’t understand why Camilla’s mint green hat hasn’t been included ?
I haven’t included hats that received a mixed reception. But, by your request, this hat is now included!
Oh thank you – I love it !
Another year of old hats from HM. The yellow with the feather pouf was a lovely one. Though I wish it were possible to bite for all of her new hats, as I absolutely loved the grey/brown one with the oversized now. Never mind!
Oops – another year of good hats I meant!!
Your wish is my command, James! Your hat of choice has been added to the poll.
Haha, thank you! I hate to sound whingey, but my OCD gets out of control sometimes. I do like these annual retrospectives you do!
