As per your request, here is a review of the remaining new hats we saw worn this year by members of the Imperial Royal Family. As the first post in this series, I have numbered each one and invite you to name which hats are your favourites in the comments as there are simply too many for a poll. Many of these hats were featured in original posts here- click on photos below jump back to these posts with additional information, views and detail on each hat..
While I still do not think any of these hats are in the running for best overall new royal hat of the year, there are some beautiful millinery details, wonderful shapes and unexpected trimmings not to be missed.
Princess Hisako and Princess Tsuguko of Takamado
Princess Hanako of Hitachi
Princess Nobuko of Mikasa

Princess Nobuko returned to royal duties this year after an extended absence due to health issues. I’m so pleased to see that she has recovered because her hats have become some of the most interesting among the Imperial royal family. Which hats here stand out most to you?

My favorite hat of this group was the hat of Princess Nobuko of Mikasa, photo 30. Out of this group of Imperial ladies, I reckon this Princess has the best hat collection. Runner-up would be the hat at photo 28. I also liked her hats at photos 29, 26, 23 and 24.
Princess Hisako of Takamado’s purple brimless moulded hat at photo 11 was my third favorite overall hat of this group of Imperial ladies, for its strong shape and color.
Princess Hisako of Takamado’s hat at photo 5 deserves at least 4th place in this contest.
Princess Hanako of Hitachi’s best hat and outfit was at photo 20. I would place her 5th overall out of this group.
Princess Hanako of Hitachi’s unusual cloche at photo 39, deserves an honorable mention. It is quite an unusual shape, plus the color, though rather drab in itself, actually compliments her coloring well, and it is just the hat for her bobbed hairdo. Well chosen Princess Hanako of Hitachi.
Thanks Hat Queen for putting together these polls on Japanese Royal Hats. My favourites for part 2 are 10, 15, 20 and 39
2, 5, 7, 10, 13, 15, 20, 29, 39, these are my favorites.
There is more variety than I was expecting!
Princess Hisako’s hats aren’t as dramatic as those in theTop 10, but they are lovely. She wears them so well. I especially like 5, 7, 9, 10, and 11.
What a treasure trove of fantastic hats! I vote for No: 28 for the win! Next best is No:30, then 20, then 26, then 39, then 5, then 11, then 35, then 23 then 29.
2, 11, 13, 15, 20, 24, and 39.
