While the weather did not completely cooperate, 10,000 guests still gathered on The Mall for a lunch to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday and her Patronage of more than 600 charities and organisations. The birthday girl joined in the festivities and watched a carnival parade with members of her family, wearing magenta hat. The design is one we’ve seen before with in silk crepe and straw, trimmed with small flowers and striped feathers. I have quibbled about the trim on this piece during past wearings and while it’s still not to my taste, the scale and colour of the overall design is wonderful on Her Majesty.

The only other member of the family to wear a hat was Princess Michael of Kent, who wore her go-to giant white pillbox.

While there were many memorable moments during today’s speeches and parade, I thought the one where the Duke of York captured a group photo of his family on his phone was particularly delightful.

She surely had a theme going of wearing near day-glow colors between this outfit and the green one on Sat.
Surprised this hat made a return so soon for HM, but maybe it’s become a personal favorite? It looks great on HM, but I don’t find it anything to brag about. Marie-Chirstine’s oversized pillbox is still not my favorite, but I love how she (and Prince Andrew) both are taking photos with their phones; they really are one of us! Haha . . .
Goodness, she must be partied out! I don’t know which of the three hats HM has worn over the past three days I like best. Now, is it onto the Order of the Garter ceremony and then Royal Ascot? You, HatQueen, will be in need of another holiday after all this.
I love the photo of the group photo! Reminds us that they are also a family.
Surprisingly quick repeat from the last wearing of this hat! Nonetheless, it’s a gorgeous color, pretty good hat: nice bumper, trim not too overdone, good height. Most importantly, alterations have taken place to the dress since its first wearing, when the dress appeared so big that it bunched under the coat and made the neck off center. Now it appears to fit.
I liked the yellow hat.
