From the video we can see that the shape is conical, like a few of HM’s hats of that era. That adds a “pixie” touch which reminds me of the downward-pointing hats worn by the flower fairies in the drawings of Cicely Mary Barker — storybook romantic and pretty.
Interesting. I wonder why the Queen switched from wearing a floral hat to the recent custom of wearing that black hairnet piece to the Chelsea Flower Show. Perhaps she just doesn’t want a brim on a hat so t hat she can look up more easily.
Great video, thanks so much for posting that link. Now that I’ve seen the hat ‘moving’ (as it were) I find I’m liking it much less. The roses are too big, there are too many leaves and stalks. Something about this hat is well off.

Not my favorite style, but the Queen looks lovely, nonetheless.
I love that hat. It reminds me of ones worn by my mother and other women when I was a child. Princess Margaret and the Queen were both beautiful women, and HM still is, even at 90.
I’m sure someone will say ‘showercap’ but that someone won’t be me! I suppose the faux roses cover the entire thing, although oddly there’s a bit of brim showing on the front left of the photo. I also find the stem sticking up in the centre a bit disconcerting. Not the Queen’s finest hat but it’s fun, if slightly weird. Would be nice to see the whole outfit, and in colour. I’m imagining soft pink roses, but they could be lemon, peach, cream …
