Cambridges Attend Irish Guards St. Patrick’s Parade

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spent this morning at Household Cavalry Barrackss to present the 1st Battalion Irish Guardsmen with shamrocks during the annual Irish Guards St Patrick’s Day Parade. Kate repeated her dark green percher saucer hat trimmed with large, pleated flower on the back left side of the design.

The first time we saw this hat, it was ill matched to its accompanying green coat but such was not an issue today. It looks like Kate’s new Catherine Walker coat was custom matched to this hat (both pieces have the same the same blue undertone) as was the cut, as the two pieces now are a perfect compliment. The hat is fairly simple but stands on its own here, uplifted by the brass buttons on Kate’s coat and those wonderful ly luxurious velvet cuffs and collar.

I think this is a case of an outfit elevating a hat (or being the perfect compliment to it). What do you think of Kate’s green hat for St. Patrick’s Day today?

  1. I thought this was a new hat at first when I saw it online elsewhere because I couldn’t see the trim on the side/back; but I like the different placement on her head to keep it fresh. I’m happy to see this hat make a return. A very polished look, and never too much green! Brava!

  2. From looking at other blogs that follow Kate’s fashion, it seems that the shape of the saucer base of this hat has been rounded out from its previous teardrop shape…is this accurate?

  3. A polished, professional appearance. The Duchess looks perfect. Coat matches hat beautifully, and the hat goes well with the hairstyle.
