Princess Astrid Unveils Statue

Princess Astrid of Norway unveiled a statue of her grandfather yesterday in London at Sjømannskirken i London (The Norwegian Church and Seamen’s Mission), the church attended by the late king and his son, Crown Prince Olaf, during their WWII London residency. For this event, Princess Astrid wore a small navy textured straw hat with bubble brim, trimmed with two straw leaves in lighter blue sinamay straw. The colour is so lovely on Astrid and while the scale doesn’t seem quite right, the quirky shape suits her surprisingly well.

  1. I love that this is more of a true blue and not navy blue. The overall shape is great and definitely in a fun shape that Astrid that fits her flamboyance, but something about the size is a bit off to me. I kinda wish it was either a larger disc or was more like a cocktail hat that sat a little farther forward on her head, but this is a minor complaint. This is definitely worthy of a repeat so it gets the justice it deserves with another outing.

  2. This is rather nice! It looks simple, but the different shades of blue, bubble brim, and texture add up to make it just right for Princess Astrid.

  3. One of my all time favourite Royals! I would love to have dinner with her. Blue is so pretty on her and her pearls are glowing, and frankly, I don’t care what hat she wears. She is perfect. This day must have kindled many memories for her
