On Friday, Queen Margrethe’s visit to Rome took her to the Presidential Palace Palazzo Quirinale where she met with Italian President Sergio Mattarella. For this meeting, the Danish Queen repeated her purple felt slightly domed pillbox with sequin trim and side feather spray.
It’s a great hat for Margrethe- in scale, shape but particularly in colour, as she wears such saturated, jewel tones so well. On the hat’s first outing we didn’t get a look at the accompanying dress- clearly, the two pieces were designed to go together, with the horizontal bodice pleats making subtle reference to the black sequins that trim the perimeter of the hat. I think t’s an elegant and striking ensemble.

Such a great look for Margrethe! Yes, the hat and dress do coordinate (as most of her hats do), but I think this hat has great potential to be paired with other outfits as well.
I agree, and I hope she acquires other coats or dresses in that color, as it really looks quite good on her!
What a pleasure it is to see the Queen in a hat and dress as well-suited to her as these two! yes, “elegant” is indeed the word.
Oh, joy!!! This dress is so well made!!! And the hat is its perfect companion, I really love this ensemble
“Elegant” is truly the correct word – Queen Margrethe looks fabulous in this color and this style, and the hat perfectly complements the dress, both here, and on the previous occasion with the black jacket. I also love how happy she looks in all the photos on both occasions.
In the first picture it looks blue (at least on my screen) but the lovely rich purple of the following images is a winner for sure! Mind you, the blue looks pretty good too.
Her Majesty looks uncommonly elegant here! Both hat and dress are winners!
How delightful the first picture is. Most attractive hat and dress.
Ding ding ding! We have a winner!! Love the colour and the scale of this hat and how its trim adds a touch of wimsy to the elegant dress.
