On Christmas Day, King Harald , Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Ingrid and Prince Sverre attended the Christmas service at Holmenkollen Chapel in Oslo. Queen Sonja repeated her wintry chocolate hat with velvet crown and fur bumper brim. The brim coordinates with the collar on Sonja’s coat, a touch which adds a bit of formality to piece, and the rich colour works wonderfully with her royal purple silk dress.
What do you think of this hat’s styling on this Christmas outing?

A perfect hat for such a snowy day! And how appropriate that Prince Sverre Magnus wore a purple tie to coordinate with his grandmother. Mette-Marit’s coat is beautiful — if only we could have seen her in a coordinating hat. (I would have thought, a hat on that day if no other, if only for warmth!)

Sonya has an amazing collection of fur hats, and they’re all terrific. The brown colour suits her well, and I love the contrast provided by the purple dress and silver necklace.
It’s a wonderful image: proud grandmother and thoughtful grandson.
Yes, the pops of purple help bring some vibrancy to this outfit. Sonja still looks good in this hat, but it seems like this is the only outfit we see her in at Christmas. Mette-Marit, although sans hat/headband, looks amazing in that floral coat and black accessories!
She looks lovely. The photo of her with her grandson is so touching.
