Queen Inkhosikati LaDube, 12th wife of the King of Eswantini (Swaziland) and mother of three of his children, died on Friday at age 31 in South Africa following treatment for skin cancer. She is likely best remembered here for the bright mint green ensemble and percher hat she wore to the Diamond Jubilee Muster in Home Park, May 19, 2012.

Thanks to Scarfie for sharing photos from the Fashion Museum in Bath. I’ve already expressed my enthusiasm for Sophie’s ensemble, but how fun to see Queen Mary’s toque.

Believe it or not, one of the most interesting hats in today’s post is the 1935 Queen Mary hat – in living color! Wouldn’t it be great to see more of these antique hats on display?

I love the blue Hostie Hat. It’s perfectly suited for Zara Tindall, Princess Beatrice, Countess of Wessex, or Queen Maxima.
The Guibert Millinery white crin disc hat is suited for the Duchess of Cambridge. She’s worn similar styles. I would like to see Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie try it out as well.
The yellow Laura Hanlon is very pretty. Maybe for the Duchess of Sussex, although it’s a style preferred by the Duchess of Cambridge right now.
I think the turquoise brimless Wies Mauduit would look beautiful on the Duchess of Sussex or Zara Tindall. The color is so beautiful.

Very, very sad news about the stylish Queen Inkhosikati LaDube. So young and tragic.
Thank you Hat Queen, for including my turquoise felt “bibi” (French for cute little hat) among your pick of the week. I find myself in wonderful company (the royal blue befeathered disc! the lace trimmed crin disc! the whimsical dandelion!) and can only sit at my kitchen table and sigh. Sigh that in the Netherlands we don’t have any horse races to wear those beautiful hats to. Or rather, we have horses, and some races, but no hat wearing related events.
Or maybe my blue mood is induced by the news of the mint green Queen Inkhosikati dying at the age of 31 leaving three children. How sad.

As much as I appreciate Fabienne Delvigne‘s creations, I always wish your Queen would discover yours, Wies Mauduit! Or maybe we should wish for Catherine-Amalia to become your patron since she might prefer to establish a relationship with a new milliner. But you make me wonder about your clientele. Where would they wear your hats?

Mittenmary, thank you for your concern. Where do people wear hats? Some weddings, some ceremonies, but generally speaking, clients are hard to find in this part of Europe.
