to June 21, 1989 and proof from the Duchess of Kent that even with the omnipresent 1980s bow, some elegant and streamlined millinery looks could still be found during this decade. As for the Queen Mum’s pink veiled capulet hat- well that’s the classic hat shape I think we’ve all come to associate with her. So charming.

Duchess of Kent always looks great!! Hoping she makes a few appearances at Ascot or upcoming state visits this year!!
The Queen Mother could have been wearing that hat anytime during about a 30-year span! Love the Duchess of Kent’s and agree that it does not look dated. I’d love to see the Duchess of Sussex try that style — it’s sleek enough for her, and we know she loves navy.
I was thinking “Meghan would like this hat”, then read your comment!
Great comment! The Queen Mum is the best! I agree this hat is lovely on the Duchess of Kent and would look lovely on the Duchess of Sussex.
The Duchess of Kent is so lovely and gracious and adored by many. I love this post Hat Queen!
The Duchess of Kent had a very good 80s, she consistently wore elegant, yet fashionable looks. Apparently Princess Di thought she was copying her a bit, but I think it was just the times.
What a fab look from the Duchess of Kent! The look is pretty timeless.
