Debut of Baby Sussex

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex introduced their son to the world this morning in St George’s Hall at Windsor Castle. Wee Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor made this first appearance in a sweet and cozy cream cashmere cap.

I’m sure you all join me in congratulating the Duke and Duchess on this new arrival to their family and welcoming another hat wearer into the British Royal Family.

  1. Such lovely pictures. That one in particular with HM, HRH and Granny Doria is a lovely image, and a wonderful record of a modern royal family. Meghan and Harry did it their way, and did it so well today.

  2. What a cutie! I’ve been enjoying these photos all morning, especially the very rare one of HM The Queen and The Duke meeting their 8th great-grandchild. Lots of happy smiles.

Many congratulations to this very happy family!

And Master Archie, you wore your very first hat very very well!

  3. Thanks for all the great photos from this morning. The creamy white knit cap hid his hair, if he has any, so that was a little disappointing but otherwise the pictures are terrific. I wonder who made the cap? The blanket is lovely, too. Can’t wait to see him grow up and eventually he’ll be wearing all sorts of hats depending upon what he’s involved in. Military, horse riding/polo, Scouting, hunting and fishing hats all come to mind.

  4. Beautiful baby and Beautiful photos! Did the palace announce he would be a Prince? I have been tied up with work and missed it.

    • According to Wikipedia:

“His parents decided against his using a title, and he will be known as simply Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, with Master as a prefix when required. Because Prince Harry is the younger son of the Prince of Wales, his son is not automatically a British prince or entitled to be addressed as “Royal Highness”, and was initially expected to be styled “like the children of any other duke” before any announcement had been made on this matter. Harry has the option of allowing his son to use one of his subsidiary titles as a courtesy title, such as “Earl of Dumbarton,” but has chosen not to do so.”
