49 years to June 21 and July 3, 1972 and a wonderful green patterned halo brimmed hat worn by Princess Anne for a polo match in Windsor Great Park and a visit to Monaco. Classic 1970s groovy chic!

Anne was probably on trend at the time, now it looks like she was about to face a rainstorm in sunny Monaco
I guess you can make a post about hats that didn’t stand the test of time, my guess lots of 70s hat
Anne certainly did the early 70s Austin Powers look didn’t she. The while idea of her being a style leader is something of a joke these days, but lots of her looks from this time were stunners! That said, I find this one to be a bit upholstered, but she carries it off.
JamesB: “upholstered” is exactly what came to my mind also. In the 1960s, when visiting my grandmother, her “davenport” (as she referred to her couch) had a very similar pattern, but it was covered with clear plastic, so we stuck to it on summer days.
I remember those floppy sou’westers being trendy! Anne looks lovely here.
Despite being very 1970s, I kinda love this! The coat reminds me of something The Queen could wear today.
