New portraits of the princess were released by the Norwegian monarchy to mark this occasion but, not surprisingly, without hats.

I really liked her quirky hat at the wedding of Felipe and Letizia
Happy birthday to Martha Louise! While I don’t love all of these, they all look good on her! The grey hat in the last slide show reminds me of
something the actress portraying her grandmother wore in the PBS series Atlantic Crossing.
The coral pink Valentino dress for the official photo is quite stunning. As for the choice of hats – there are winners and then there are some deserved losers.
I agree that Martha Louise looks terrific at 50 and some of her hats are winners! The orange/lavender large brimmed hat is a winner for me. It makes quite the statement! I also love the red percher hat she wore with the yellow dress and the cream colored hat she wore with the teal dress. Happy Birthday, Martha Louise!!!
These are adventurous if not always successful. As JamesB has noted, she looks fabulous and seems to be aging as beautifully as her mother.
She’s sure not afraid of a statement! They’ve not all aged brilliantly… Unlike her; she looks fabulous at 50, and in spite of some really difficult times, looks to be happy, which is marvellous. She’s carved out a role for herself which although unconventional, seems to be succeeding, it must be a rough thing to do.
